Makeup can be a challenge for people with severely dry skin. The makeup isn’t absorbed and the layers are clearly visible pouring all your hard work down the drain. So people with dry skin have to put in extra effort to make their makeup look flawless. Even people with uneven skin tone struggle. So all you have to do is create a smooth base so your makeup glides on smoothly and doesn’t look dull and grey. Here are a few tips for you to follow.
The first and most important rule in makeup is proper cleansing of the skin. You have to take care of your skin, no matter what. Exfoliating and cleansing will leave your skin fresh and hydrated – ideal for applying makeup. And make sure to stay hydrated all day. Even a moisturizing mist will help. Back to the cleansing step, scrub your face and wash it with a water-based cleanser. It will remove dead skin cells and dirt from your facial skin.
I can’t seem to stress the importance of moisturizing. This is the most important step regardless of skin type. Moisturize your face twice, in the morning and before going to bed because the skin needs deeper moisture.
It is necessary to apply primer before applying makeup. Especially if you have dry skin. It can help your foundation last longer and create a smoother finish. Choose a gel-based primer and apply in dots.
For a flawless finish, foundation is essential but if you have dry skin, you should avoid matte foundation. Instead, choose creams because they won’t be patchy or cakey. It won’t dry out your skin any further and will allow you to glow. This also applies to concealers.
Skip the dough
You must avoid flour at all costs. You can use setting spray instead of liquid powder for makeup. Powder can absorb moisture from your facial skin, making your face look dry and worse. They can be a good choice for people with oily skin but don’t struggle with dryness.
Never forget your lips. If you have dry skin, your lips will be drier. Avoid matte lipstick and wear tinted lip balm instead. You can also try using lip gloss to make your lips soft and plump.
Follow these tips and I swear it will be a game changer.
