In 2021, not many things are certain, but one thing is? The influence of Korean beauty on our skin care routine cannot be overstated. We have to thank the industry for sheet masks, face serums, BB creams, and more, but one has become a sleepless hit: eye cream. According to Alicia Yoon, founder of Peach & Lily, there are two main factors that make Korean eye products so great.
The first is one of the mainstays of Korean skin care. “Hydrating is one of the basics that you want to get right when it comes to skin care because it can have a domino effect on many other aspects of your skin health,” says Yoon. “Even when I use my skin care products, and I am using serums and essences, I am also treating the eye area. You want a really great eye cream to lock in all that hydration.”
Another factor is the focus on preventive skin care. Yoon said: “There is a concept of saving your skin, cherishing your skin. And while many products can and do address skin damage that has already occurred, you’ll find many products that address overall skin maintenance. “When it comes to eye creams, I think there’s a bit more variety,” says Yoon, “That’s how we prevent the eye area from going through the squeegee. ”
Yoon adds that social media and even the skin care boom during the pandemic have added to the preventive skin care movement. “We’re getting a lot of false rumors from people in their 20s saying, ‘I feel like I should start using eye cream now’,” she said.
